LARGE PRINT BOOK & audio book COLLECTIONs
The Manchester District Library has a small, but varied, large print book collection available, as well as an audio book collection. If searching for a title that we do not have, you may be able to place a free interlibrary loan request on the item. Contact Library staff for more information about interlibrary loan procedures. wASHTENAW lIBRARY FOR THE BLIND AND PHYSICALLY DISABLED @ AADL
In Washtenaw County this free service administered by the Ann Arbor District Library, loans books, magazines, and videos in alternative formats (audio books on cartridge or for download, large print, braille books and magazines, and descriptive video) to individuals of all ages who are unable to read or use standard printed materials as a result of temporary or permanent visual or physical limitations. A talking book machine and materials are mailed at no cost as Free Matter for the Blind. For more information on how to apply, click here. CHOICE MAGAZINE LISTENING (CML)
Since 1962 Choice Magazine Listening has been serving adults with conditions that make it difficult to read standard print. Any adult what has difficulty reading or even holding a magazine is eligible. CML's subscribers include those with conditions such as low vision, macular degeneration, blindness, MS, diabetes, cerebral palsy, ALS, dyslexia, and Parkinson's. Four times a year, listeners receive 12 hours of great magazine writing. A talking book player is provided free of charge. Recipients enjoy the issue for several weeks, then return it in the postage-free mailer it arrived in. It's as easy as that! This service is free of charge to all listeners.
